Robert Cook
Robert Cook,
a native of Boston, has been doing sculptures
for 50 years at his Via Margutta studio, in a quiet courtyard near Rome's Spanish
Steps.
He has always shown regularly in America and in 1962 built a studio
in Canale-Monterano to execute larger commissions for the Near East,
Europe and
Australia, but the
largest number of commissions
came from cities in the
United States.
He and his wife, the writer Joan Marble Cook, divide their
time between Rome and
Canale and their flat
in London.
They also travel extensively in
Africa, India and
the Far East, from whence he gleans much
of his subject matter.
This is the latest of four volumes on his work done by the Jasillo
Press in Rome. The first was "Family Album in Bronze" 1976, a series
of over
100 figures of his two
children from the
time of their birth until they were 20 years
old. These can be seen at his former school, Milton Academy, in Milton
Mass. where they are
on permanent exhibition.
The second was "Twelve Commissions" 1978 showing larger
works in Canberra, Australia;
Boston, Mass; Racine, Wisconsin; Dallas, Texas; Chicago, Illinois; Miami, Florida;
lohnson City, Tenn; Philadelplhia and Radnor Pa; and New York City.
The third volume was "In
Motion" 1980 showing compositions of birds, animals andhumans in motion.
